Pywackett was the band that John Persh formed after leaving Rare Earth. The rest of the band consisted of Kenny Folcik (James) on keys, Joe Gutc (guitar & formerly of Mitch Ryder Band) and the drummer whose name escapes me.
The band was signed to Bell Records and an album was recorded. Due to legal issues and changes at the label the record was never released. I have heard the tapes and they are very interesting.
"I've Got The Feeling" & "Turn On To Life" were 2 songs that might have appeared on Willie Remembers had John not left the band. I have a copy of this 45. Tom Baird also contributed a song "Window" that was very good.
Just thought I would share that with all you Rare Earth fans.
John, thanks for letting us all in on this info. We had heard that John had a band called Pywackett but it has never been confirmed anywhere. Sounds amazing!
I've got 3 songs on vinyl, that I'm going to try to convert to mp3, so if anyone wants to hear them, they can - not to mention I'd like to have them on my ipod. Can you convert that "TOTL" to mp3? If not, does anybody know what software is needed?
Yes vinyl and tape can be converted to Mp3 with no problems, there are many software programs available to do this. I use Audio Cleaning Lab Deluxe 3.0 software and it does a good job.
John, I have been asked about a 45 called Dont Fight It/Walking The Dog by a duo called Parrish and Wilde. Can you confirm either way if this was John himself?
They never played live. I'm sure they would have had the record been released. Clive Davis was the man behind the record. In all honesty I'm not sure who pulled the plug but Bell was seguing into Arista at the time and I know there was an issue about who owned the recordings.
