1969-Montreal-Quebec-Canada-listening to the radio.........I first heard.....the words....
" I'm just following my heart girl........(from Born To Wander)-blew me -totally- AWAYYYYYYY....for LIFE........for weeks-I could NOT get that song-out of my head.....or out of my life.....because I still sing it-36 years on........these guys-were so totally different-than other stuff-on the radio-at that time....I'd grown up-the past few years-listening to Motown-(and you can hear it-clearly-in the music..........these guys-were TIGHT-some of the best use-of a wah-wah pedal-ever-on record-great flute playing......great vocals......etc..... a taste-of what was to come........'Get Ready"(and a mean killer saxophone solo-that means business- every time you hear it)and a tune both my brother-and I- sing-"I'm Losing You..."('Your love....is......fade.....fade.....fade.....fade......I feel it...fade......fade......fade........") (we sing it really well-too-just so you know-........we nail -it.......)Hey Big Brother..............Motown- a great part of a great era of music- I'm glad I've LIVED.......to experience...........Detroit- a great music city-they didn't only-make great cars- or great hockey teams-(Red Wings)-but Rare Earth -living proof -that there was more greatness-to Motown- besides Stevie,Smokey, Diana,and so many others(and yeah-I could get-listen to the great 'LW-(CKLW AM- Windsor,Ont. Canada)-in Montreal-at night-and I grooved-silently-in the darkness-on many a night-listening- to my transistor radio-through a cheap white plastic earplug........)
