Question for Peter regarding snare drum sound
Permalink

Hi Peter,

A guy I know at another music forum was discussing Rare Earth and complimented the snare sound on the "Get Ready" album. By chance, do you recall what setup/equipment (snare) you used for that album?

Thank you.

Snare was nothing special. a stock ludwig gold sparkle snare..painted white inside....  put a wallet on the batter head....used a cheap talk back mike....heads were tight....5 1/2 "

I've said it more than once on here. It was Peter's snare drum sound on Get Ready and Magic Key that drove me towards buying the Get Ready LP. The rest is history.

A great sound, one of the best. The first 30 seconds of that solo (He does 8 bars then the band comes back) is orgasmic!

Personal choice I expect. Actually, Gil has posted here in the past, as has Rod Richards. I guess if either of them have something to say then they will pop in. After all, they are part of the family that is Rare Earth.
