UPDATE ON BOB BABBITT
Permalink

THIS IS AN UPDATE ON BOB FROM HIS WEBSITE ADMINISTRATOR.

We want to update you about Bob. As you have seen, the website discussion activity has been somewhat dormant. This is due to the fact that Bob has been ill with a brain tumor. He was diagnosed over a year ago and has been doing pretty good. However, he is presently in the hospital with related complications. We all wish him our thoughts and prayers at this time. We will keep you informed.

In the meantime, we would like you to participate in a new discussion about Bob by giving examples of how Bob has affected your life or your family.

RAY

Hi Ray

I knew very little about Bob until you introduced his work to me through the forum. It quickly became very clear that I have lots of his work sat in my vinyl and CDs. I know you are particularly close to him.

I knew he had been unwell but it is particularly upsetting to hear that some complications have arisen. I really hope that Bob overcomes these complications and I will be among those many people who will be saying some prayers for him!!!

Sending out prayers and good vibrations for Bob. I've been wondering about Bob and how he was doing. I honestly didn't have the heart to ask. Wasn't sure if it was my business.

I was lucky to have met him twice when I saw The Funks. He's a giant teddy bear of man. Sweetheart guy.

How has Bob affected me? He's played some righteous grooves on many records...too numerous to mention. A few highlights for me:

Signed, Sealed, Delivered

Rubberband Man

Touch Me In The Morning *Note, Tom Baird plays piano on that too.

I had the pleasure of seeing Bob and the other Funk brothers play in Chicago and Milwaukee. Not only was the show great, but he comes across as a very sincere guy. I remeber seeing him and his family having dinner a couple of tables away from my wife & I before a House Of Blues show in Chicago. I didn't want to bother him during that time, but I couldn't help but notice he had a big smile on his face the entire time.

My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.

Chicago Tommy

The man certainly deserves it. In the company of Steve Winwood? That's big company. Well deserved.
