Here's Gil in 1970 @ Atlanta Pop Festival...this festival was recorded and filmed. Sony/Legacy has the tapes. I'm not sure where the film of this is. Look closely, it sure looks like Gil to me. It's the only phot I've seen of our beloved Rare Earth at Atlanta Pop.
Clarify: Gil would be the one onstage, wearing shades and playing maracas.
I wonder what the band's setlist was? Anyone care to guess? From what I recall reading, the band supposedly debuted "Losing You" at the gig. I'm guessing they also played "Get Ready", "Tobacco Road" and a few others.
That could very well NOT be Gil. I'm taking the website at it's word on this one. Gil would know for sure.
I'd love to the band's set from the festival. It's the same show in which Pete was "tripping" (according to his book) and wasn't able to really be there and enjoy the gig.
Oooops....forgot to sign my name at the above. I'll bet anything the guy in the shades isn't Gil.
Thanks Ralph...
I feel silly now, not through any fault of yours. Now I am curious who that is. I wonder if the person who snapped that picture has a "cloudy" memory. ha ha.
I did my best to imagine the guy might be Kenny James. It is his side of the stage and the year is right. Still, I'm not too sure of that either.
Hi Ralph,
I'll take your word. You'd know better than I. I guess I jumped the gun...I always get excited when I discover a new piece of Rare Earth memorabilia, photo, song, etc.
