Dave, check out Gahan House Brewery, it is located in Prince Edward Island.I haven't found any of their beer in the local stores yet, but I'm hopeful. I will be sending them an email to find out if it is available in New Brunswick.
THINK? I'm still looking for that self filling beer glass! We went out to the pub a couple of Saturdays ago and I found a refillible beer pitcher, it refilled every time I took it to the bar, as long as I gave the barmaid money, amazing!
Al, we've had those here for a good few months now. Slightly different name though over here. Ours are self emptying wallets. The price of beer keeps going up and up ;)
Dave I get to beat some of the high price of beer, Moosehead breweries sent me a birthday card with a coupon for $2.00 off a case of Moosehead Pale Ale.(yes tomorrow Oct.30 is a red letter day in Canada)So I get to sip on some brews that are a few cents cheaper.

Nice one Al. No discounted beer here, although I've now saved 5 bottle tops off Fullers ESB and qualify for a free stemmed engraved glass.
Gustavo You like GIN WITH GIN? Is that by any chance what we call a double gin?
Hey, someone gave me sample of a really nice drink a few weeks back. It was apparently Toffee vodka. Now I don't drink spirits as a rule, maybe the odd whisky or rum here or there for medicinal purposes (yeah right), and certainly not Vodka, but this was one seriously pleasant taste. Could be bad news if it gets marketed at teenagers as we have enough young p***heads in Britain as it is.

DAVE!!!!!!!!!!! found another brewery and it has your name on it, you got to check out Lakeport Brewery, FLIPPIN FOR LAKEPORT WITH DAVE! that what it says. Also a picture of a spaced out guy, is that you?
"Tired out" would be more like me right now LOL. Been awake since 3.30am and just back after a 350 mile journey over land and sea. good job I wasn't sailing 6 hours earlier as the wind was blowing at 80 miles per hour!

3:30am, well this should wake you up........HEY DAVE I FOUND ANOTHER BREWERY! This one I must sheepishly confess is right (pronounced rate, it is a east coast thing)under my nose for over a year!Big Tide Brewery, it is brew pub in down town Saint John. My mission is to seek out new beers and more new beers.I was on their site and it is a few blocks from where I use to live when I once had hair( that means the '70s).I can almost taste the flavour.........I'm getting ahead of myself.Sleep tight beer brother, catch ya later.
Dave I was able to make two stops at the Big Tide brew pub last week.It is located below street level, so as you enter you go down stairs, the bar is in front of you as you reach the bottom and through the windows left of the bar are the vats for brewing. On Wednesday I stopped by and had a quick glass of the hemp pale ale, a good excuse to get out of the rain that day.I had just come out of the Backstreet Records store, which is two blocks away from the pub.It was a long walk and I was thirsty. On Thursday my wife and I stopped in for a bite to eat and a couple of beers before we went to The Trews concert.I sampled the Irish Red and another Hemp pale ale, she had a Pilsner. The beers have a great flavour, great colour, aw hell it's good friggin' beer. The food well, let me tell ya, I will be returning that I know.Beer prices 12oz $4.50, 20oz $6.50 for Big Tide products.
PS In the Backstreet Record store they had only one Rare Earth LP One World for $12.99.
Al Big Tide sounds the business. Here in my City we now have more brew pubs than record stores. Isn't that wierd. The download business and internet have caused all the endependent stores to disappear and one or two big ones. Now HMV is the only dedicated record store although the supermarkets carry the top 50 or so chart albums.
I guess it means I'll have to listen to less music and drink more beer!!
Oh yeah, I nearly forgot. We have been warned that winter is arriving in the UK next week with the potential for some of the white stuff courtesy of Siberia. You know what I'm talking about, the "S" word .
Dave More brew pubs then record stores, well then you do have a lot of beer to drink.Big Tide is the only one in Saint John, the last one Tapps closed a couple of years back.I hope it can stay open for many years. One thing I did notice at Big Tide on Thursday was that there was only patron drinking bottled beer, all others where indulging in the pubs products, a good sign. catch ya later
Dave I'm sitting here drinking a beer,I know it is hard to believe that. This one I don't ever remenber having before.Faxe Fest Bock from Denmark.I went to their web site and checked out their beers,This bock I have is 7o/o but the site says 7.7o/o,must be a export thing.I find it a good tasting beer,it has been a while since I've had a Bock beer, I think the last one was from the U.S. Catch ya later
Funnily enough I saw some Faxe in a store just before christmas and was thinking how i'd not seen it for decades. I seem to recall at one time they used to do an aluminium keg that had a fiddly way of opening it. You were guaranteed to lose half of it over yourself and up the walls. Redecoration usually followed :)
Dave I tuned the TV to TCM and the movie on is WHAT! NO BEER! starring Buster Keaton and Jimmy Durante, a story of two pals who start a brewery.Hey, an ideal flic for a night of beers and a movie.
What No beer? tell me about it. Tonight i was due to go on an annual pilgimage to the British Winter Ales festival in Manchester. It's a two hour train journey there and back but I was looking forward to meeting up with some old friends for the first time in two years having missed last years event.
I booked this afternoon as holiday at work and tomorrow morning as well, just in case the old head was hurting. Alas, just as I was about to leave I was inundated with queries that needed answering, problems etc etc. In the end I was so late getting away that I missed the train so it wasn't worth going. I was not a happy bunny. Even when I did get home, somewhat later than expected, I was still being chased by phonecalls and emails with work issues to sort out. Some kind of holiday!! Still, I'll know better next time. I'll put on a disguise and sneak out of the building when nobody is looking and I might accidentally run over my mobile phone on the way out of the car park. ; ) I'm currently making up for my ruined evening with a glass or three of finest Shiraz...and a beer of course.
Dave Holy crap! Moosehead Breweries has locked out their workers. Both union and company say that they are not that far apart on a deal. The brewery says that they have a stock pile of beer so the liquor stores wouldnot be running out, I watched the news and the picket line is up at the brewery. Here's hopin' they can get a deal down soon.
Dave Hopefully the gap is as wide as the label on a bottle of Moosehead Pale Ale says 341ml. I remember the liqour store strike from years ago and all the trouble we had here in New Brunswick getting something to drink, I spent a few Saturdays in the line up at the border, not so much going to the U.S. but dealing with the long line ups at Canada customs.
Dave I found this story on MSN,Molson Canadian is set to become the offical beer of the NHL a part of a sponsorship agreement announced Tuesday that is believed to be the most lucrative in league history.A seven year deal worth $375 million!!!.That's a hell of a lot of beer.BUT!!! there's always a but. Labatts has been the NHL sponsor in Canada for more then a decade says "they had agreed upon the terms of a renewal of sponsorship agreement until 2014.Nothing has happened to change that situation. We have an agreement and are pursuring legal remedies available to us to enforce this agreement"
This should be fun to watch,I can see it now, Labatts beer trucks cutting off Molson beer trucks on the highway.
Dave Still no end to the Moosehead lockout. Here is my email address lynnalobrien@gmail.com. I've been having trouble getting on the site the last three days and I realised I couldnot even email anyone from rareearthworld to ask if there was a problem, drop me a line sometime. catch ya later.
Dave I just read a story that made me think of you,a guy in Iowa has given up food for lent and is on a all beer diet.J.Wilson is his name and he drinks four beers on weekdays and five on weekends. Each beer is 12oz has 288 calories and 6.67% alcohol.Words of wisdom from the man himself,"your not going to hell if you drink a beer"and"beers not bad, drinking way to much of it is a bad thing". Catch ya later AL the beer swilling Canadian
Such a dilemma Al. I have three bottles in front of me. Fullers Jack Frost, Fullers Discovery and Fullers ESB. Actually I also have two bottles of Fullers Vintage, but these are a boxed limited edition not to be opened. So, which is it to be on this Lenten evening? Jack Frost I think. 4.5% alcohol and brewed with blackberries for a fruity taste!
I found another brewery, who'da guessed?IT is Goose Island in Chicago,I checked out their website, they are a brewpup operation. They have quite a selection of beers, they also make pop. There are two beers names that caught my eye.Honker's Ale,an English style bitter 4.2% and Demlition an Belgian style golden ale 7.2%.I suppose after a few of bottles of Demlition "WE" would would be a couple of Honker's.
they were on the road in Oklahoma and the Choc Brewery is a placed they stopped.CHOC BEER / Beer This was the first episode of the show I'd ever seen and there it was a brewery tour,go figure.
