This one is for Ray Monette *exclusively* as he was the only one (here on the boards, that is) involved in the making of the 1975 "BCK TO EARTH" LP.

Is this a LEGIT release? Authorized by MOTOWN? Or is it, in fact, a BOOTLEG?

As for it's being an OFFICIAL release...or even a licensed one from The GORDY Empire, I personally do not think so....

Hopefully, for the sake of ALL surviving members of the 1975 version of Rare Earth receiving royalties due...this has been looked into by the MOTOWN legal department...and accordingly attended to..

It's some sort of "remix" with bits of the song in there. I dig the Back To Earth album...especially side 1. Sure...Peter, Mike and Mark were gone but it's a solid effort.

For The Record:

This 'loop', which comprises the opening of "HAPPY SONG" (Track 1, "B"-Side) from "BACK TO EARTH (1975), features:

Bartholomew Eugene Smith-Frost, drums

Edward Guzman, congas

At the fade comes in the guitar provided by either Ray Monette or Paul Warren (That one version of Earth had 2 guitarists)

The 'official' song was composed by Doug Duffey and was published by Doug Duffey Music Publishing Enterprises.

And the question still stands; This release from RATED-X RECORDS, I do believe, IS a bootleg.

And I *do* wonder *if* Harry Weinger and the legal eagles ar Universal/Motown are on the case to *rectify* this matter?
