I *must* take the Gravest Exception and Umbrage to the fact that...as stated in Paragraph 2 of this: RUSS TERRANA wasn't invited to attend the Detroit gala, for whatever reason....
Shoot! I was gonna ask if he & Ralph could do a clip for YouTube about the affair!
It's tantamount to, when BILL HANNA & JOE BARBERA, whilst with MGM, did the dance sequence for GENE KELLEY...when he danced with JERRY MOUSE(TOM & JERRY). Came the day when Kelley picked up his Academy Award (T.M.) for the film he made, he credited the success of said sequence to "lots of little hands that helped out"...not one word about Hanna, Barbera, Ken Muse, Carlo Vinci, et al.
Actually, Russ and I DO get invited to a lot of the Motown related affairs. The hitch is, there is generally a hefty ticket price to attend. That and the cost of travel usually dicourage us from showing up to some of these affairs.
Joe Klien is doing an excellent job in documenting the story. I'm looking forward to part 2.
Hefty ticket price to attend...and the cost of travel, eh?
Ow!
Geez...it's too bad that the Technical Studio Craftsmen behind the music ONLY get their flat rate salaries, and NOT the same royalties like the artistes composers, & producers do..
