1 day,PETE will die, suddenly the coffin door swings open;PETE will sit up,say...b4 I leave,i just wanna sing 1 last song...then again PETE will never die;Guy left RE,decades ago,we still talkin bout him;Hey PETE,whens the last time u got on the TIMBALES?Lessons from the GUZ?
Norman Whitfield (G.H.R.S.) woulda *dug* this different spin on the cklassic tune that he and R.E. so *masterfully* made..
And Pete, I'm not kidding about ya *gotta* give **SERIOUS** consideration to approaching Viacom/CBS/Paramount - the heads of VH-1/MTV about an "Unplugged" episode starring you & your ensemble doing these renditions.
I do plan on doing a DVD soon of the UNPLUGGED approach. I am very excited about this avenue. I will have a promo version of our "thing" in a day or so. I just wanted to put this little bit of MA out there for the fun of it. I love playing with Joe Brasch and Danny
Spoiler
McCollim
as they are 2 premier players. Joe is very well know as a teacher of guitar and has umteen students. Danny is a professor of Keyboard and Music arranging at the University where I live. They are so much fun to play with. We look forward to doing shows and also we are writing extensively for some future releases. I'll keep things posted. Thanks for the ideas for VH1 etc. I will look into all suggestions. Peter

That was my thoughts exactly. Peter Rivera Unplugged...and seated I'd like to make a request: play Love Shines Down. I know the sotry behind where it was written but it would sounds great with piano, acoustic guitar and congas.
I'd buy 2 copies!
Writing for future releases? Oooh, new material. I'll buy that too.

I think I remember a 1977 radio interview with Pete, Ed, & Co. (Promoting the RAREARTH album), where Pete discusses such an 'atypical' tune coming from he & Ray whilst they were fishing. He didn't mention the title of said 'atypical' tune..but we *all* know which one he was referring to...as he & Ray were the composers of said masterpiece..
Few times i asked Peter and Ralph what is that secret behind Rare Earth sound?
What is it ?
What is that secret ingredient that combine funk, rock, blues and jazz into magnificant and unique (nobody,.. i mean this+++NOBODY...SOUNDs LIKE THIS!)Rare Earth sound that i have to digest 2x a day?
Is it Peter Rivera voice,is it Ray`s guitar,or Gil`s sax,Urso bass...............

I dont know guys,
BUT THIS SONG MA IS A KILLER!
WISH IT IS 5 MINUTES LONGER...........
peace.
I don't know but my take on it is:
Rare Earth's best stuff grooves....ve...augmented by rock solid drumming, funky percussion, funky guitar and keyboard work and rockin' sax & flute...all held down by some rock solid bass playing...basically everyone singing and playing their hearts out. That's just my 2 cents.
Rich: when you go to youtube and search for peter rivera unplugged you might get the MA video.. scroll down and click on repeat search.. then you will get unplugged. My son says that this will take care of itself in a few hours. You tube seems to default to the MA video because it contains the word unplugged and it was on tube first.. we will delete this one then the unplugged will take over Unplugged is a 4:30 of a promo video with the trio.. check it out. Let me know Peter
I watched the MA video and it was great,I have only one question. Peter when are you going to bring your show to my neck of the world. I'm on the east coast of Canada? Saint John New Brunswick is the nearest city, just in case you were in the neighbourhood. Not that I'm begging or anything.
Hey Al: We would love to come to Canada again. We don't have anything on the books as of yet but you never know. Thanks for asking MA has been removed from Youtube but I've put a new 4 min video on. If you go to youtube and search for
(Peter Rivera Unplugged) you can see the piece Let me know if you get it Peter
Peter Thanks for the heads up, I checked out you tube and found the video, that would be a great show to see, here's hoping for an Eastern Canadian tour one day.Of course once on you tube I had to check out Tobacco Road, love that tune, also Get Ready from 73, one thing concerning the Get Ready video is that everybody had more hair , including the fans. I remember having more hair in 1973, I wonder where it went to? Catch ya later!
