We had some comments before about all the errors that crop up involving Rare Earth. I remember Richard contributing a few. Here's the latest find, this time an ebay item:
Few people know this, I guess, but Rare Bird kinda sorta **does** have a Motown connection....kinda....you see, Bird keyboardist David Kaffinetti later joined the US funk rock band Fresh, who signed with Motown (Prodigal) for 2 LPs in 1978...albeit Kaffinetti, though *not* playing in the band by then, signed as a Stone Daimond/Jobete writer behind Fresh for the LP "Feelin' Fresh".
The 2 songs that Kaffinetti co-composed on the "Feelin' Fresh" album...(a *great* platter...and **very** underrated, IMHO)...were "Hey, Kid!" ("A"-Side, track 4) and "Everybody's Got Sumthin' To Say" ("B" Side, track 1)
As an aside, this LP was also produced by John Ryan - most likely during the 2 Rare Earth LP sessions of '78..
Since the sessions were both done by Ryan at Sound City in Studio City...and Fresh openly proclaimed that Earth was one of their *big* influences & inspirations (along with Sly & The Family Stone), I wonder if Pete & Co. had the pleasure to meet Bill Pratt & Co. and if he has any memoirs of said meeting(s) to share?
