Billy Cobham is one phenomenal drummer, once described by Carl Palmer (one of the word's greatest drummers, himself) as a pioneer in the style of "space-age drumming".

Did he ever produce Rare Earth?

No, Billy didn't. The results would've been interesting, since Billy was/is known for his work in the area of jazz/rock fusion.

For you Billy fans, check out the album "Spectrum". There's a lot of tasty guitar work on it too.

My first taste of Billy was when he was with the Mahavishnu Orchestra.  When I saw him I was awestruck.

Yep, courtesy of the late great Tommy Bolin. I bought the CD ages ago and for some reason I never got around to playing it. I must dig it out and play it in my car for a few days.

STEVE you mention Carl Palmer, there is a photo of him in the sessionman article. The caption reads. Carl Palmer: He was a session drummer for Keith and Greg for about a week, and then became one-third of the group. It also has a two photos of Jimmy Page in between them the caption reads. Jimmy Page: He developed his quintessential rock n' roll style by hours of session work with the WHO, playing lead guitar on ' Can't Explain', and reportedly, many other famous tunes.I should mention the article was a day in the life of Elliot Randall, the writer lists that days schedule 9am Richie Havens, 1pm Felix Cavaliere, 3pm MacDonalds. Yep, that MacDonalds,he said "who do you think does the background music to all those hip- sounding radio and television commercials?" So anybody else find any hidden gems lately?
