Along with Musicians, are there any drummers?!! #$%^Y {duck,, whoa,, ouch$%^&*} sprint.gif Just kidding..ashamed

Just wondering how many players are around who have not stated that they are players..

Guilty.

I play bass guitar and keyboard bass in a couple of local bands (one playing heavy rock, the other playing soul / pop) just for fun and enough money to cover my ever changing music gear!!

Steve Barber is a drummer as I recall. No doubt JP2 will be a chip off the old block.

Others?

I should add that I'll never make a John Persh or a Mark Olson but I'm just grateful to be involved.

Cool Dave!  It's good to know there are some of you out playing music..

Something I notice around my home town is that there is a healthy scene of people out playing music with friends for the simple joy of doing it. There's also a healthy "Pro" Scene here, where folks make their living at it , but some of the clubs and pubs have open mics where people just come to jam..

It's nice to hear about those experiences too..

Hey Ivan,

I'm a frustrated musicaianhmm.  I wrote a lot of lyrics in the past but nothing recently.  I took guitar lessons but only got to the point where I could play a lot of cords but not really songs.

I bought a guitar and wanted to play like Pete Townshend but after smashing the first one up I thought it too expensive.

I wish I was. I probably would be a musician today if I had stuck to taking piano lessons from 9-11 yrs of age. I stopped after that. I guess I became interested in other things. I used to like to try and figure out how to play songs from my records and tapes and not from the sheet music. Sigh...

Its never too late Mike. Those 2 years of piano lessons could still be enough to get you started!!

Man what a question,I haven't thought about that in years.I confess,it was the TRUMPET,in high school a few decades ago.We were suppose to a marching band but we never marched anywhere.Besides anybody who heard us always mentioned the sour notes.Bands like LIGHTHOUSE and CHICAGO had nothing to worry about!

Hi AL

Regarding your comment "We were suppose to be a marching band but we never marched anywhere".

I have visions of a great big carpet with holes in it.smile

Nothing against Marching Bands by the way. I don't get to see many but I always find them compelling when I do. I'm always amazed by those army bands when they start going in different directions whilst playing. Boy would it go wrong if you pitched me in the middle!!! Chaos would be the word I think!!

Hello UK DAVE                                                                                               Greetings from CANADA.Never wore out any carpets,we sat on our butts besides it was a tile floor in the music room.I don't think the school board would have sprung for a rug.I'm writing this while watching a football game between Montreal and Edmonton playoff time in the CFL.It is a dome game so if they do have a marching band at half time they'll be warm. There is a second game later between CALGARY and BRITISH COLUMBIA  an outdoor game so any band will have to do some quick marching to keep warm.If you don't know CFL stands for CANADIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE.Whats even better are the half time shows in CANADIAN collage football playoff games. Last year they had THE TREWS playing, and the TV network showed the whole set. Now that's my kind of marching band.Talk to you later.
