I hope you all enjoy this. I was able to meet the band in the 1980's and take these great pictures. I also did a remix under them. I have alot of pictures that I will try to post soon. I'm so happy that I found this site for such a GREAT BAND!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cao3WxW4V70
I'm happy you guys like this. It was a great night when I saw them. The room was packed with fans and the band sounded great. My brother Dave started talking to someone who was working for the band, Just asking questions about the tour and some music questions. It turned out that it was Pete's brother who could tell that me and my brother were big fans. He said you gotta go meet Pete and he took us to an area upstairs where the band was. Man it was cool meeting these guys! They were so friendly and they signed autographs, Pete gave my brother's girlfriend a drum stick. My brother doesn't have that girlfriend anymore but he does have the drum stick. I work for a radio show called Mancow's Morning Madhouse. I always play Rare Earth music on the show. I play more album tracks and we always get a good response from the listeners. I have met alot of musicians that were not nice and your always crushed by that. Let me just say that meeting Rare Earth was everything I wished it could be. It so wonderful to hear new stuff like Get Ready from Chicago and the Tight and Hot stuff. Regards. Thomas Repetny
Thomas, Great photos and an excellent remix to go with them. I too finally got to meet the band at a gig in the 1980's. My only keepsake from that night is an autographed band photo. Your photos bring back such wonderful memories. I notice you're wearing a NY City T-shirt in the photo taken with Pete. By any chance was this gig in the NY metro area? Thanks for sharing. Jocko D
The place was called The Edgewater. It was in Wisconsin. The place is gone now. Thanks for your nice comments. I was afraid the remix might upset some people and I don't want that at all. I hail these guys!!!
I don' t remember his last name but I think his name is Tommy. He filled in for a couple of gigs (not sure how many) for Mike Urso. I know Mike played with the band after Tommy filled in because I saw him on the Hot and Tight tour.
No way was the remix upsetting to me. I really liked what you did with some of the things from the In Concert album. I like the way you looped John Persh's bass solo and made it longer. We are big fans of JP here and its very sad that he's no longer with us. Not forgetting Eddie and Mark of course.
Great stuff Thomas!! The bass players name was Tim. I saw him on a couple of occasions. I don't believe Mike Urso ever came back after Tim, but I could be wrong.
I've got a lot of '80's pics myself. Don't have the tools and the know how to get them up on the site. Eventually I'll try.
If anyone wants any of their photo's to be considered for inclusion within the gallery pages of our rareearthworld main site then feel free to upload any you want to. Just send them to photo@rareearthworld.co.uk
Not to sound like a broken record, I met Rare Earth after a show they rocked-out, in the 1980's, in a northern Chicago suburb. At the time, the band was made up of Gil, Ray, Eddie, Bird, Ricky, Wayne, and Dean. What lead up to the introductions was completely coincidental. I complimented their on-stage performance and left with an autographed 8 X 10 photo. With the exception of the autographed photo, I don't have pictures from that evening. I do however have some great 80's on photos. I too need to get a scanner. If a picture is worth a thousand words, I, as usual, have a lot to say.
No I don't have a scanner, I should get one. I do know a few people who do, I'll start to look into downloading the pics hopefully soon. Some very nice close ups of Ray, Gil, Eddie and Mark. Never seemed able to get particularly good shots of Pete in those days. Lot's of great CRA shots of Pete however but we've all seen many of those on their website. Oh yea, got some good ones from the Wayne Barraks era too.
