These are awsome clips considering I've never had the pleasure of seeing the band.
On Get Ready (Part 3) which is from 1975, it appears to be Ray, Gil, Eddie, Mark, Reggie McBride, Frosty and, presumably Jerry LaCroix. Am I correct?
If so, I presume that is Mark Olson duetting on sax with Gil. Then there is a harmonica solo which must be Jerry?
It was JockoD who mentioned Mark played sax as well as keys. All these years I never knew that as it was never mentioned on sleeves or in any rock encyclopedias.
I know Jerry played sax in earlier days with Edgar Winter's White Trash. Did he get to play sax with Rare Earth on stage at all?
I thought the classic Rare Earth with six members was big. This line-up had seven! Enlighten us Ray (or Gil). Who was the unlucky one who had to travel on the roof of the van?
I never knew that this exact line up exsisted either until I saw this recording and yes it is Jerry on harmonica, he does lead vocal on the track too. Were there any more than 7 members at any one time?
THE LINE-UP IS CORRECT,AS JOHN SAID.AND YES,THAT'S MARK ON SAX.
ON THE ONE WORLD ALBUM YOU CAN HEAR A PRIME EXAMPLE OF GIL AND MARK ON "WHAT'D I SAY".VERY NICE HORN WORK.
JERRY DID PLAY SAX WITH US TOO.HE BROUGHT MANY TALENTS TO THE TABLE WHEN HE JOINED.OH.....AND BY THE WAY,WE DID HAVE A REHEARSAL BEFORE WE DID ROCK CONCERT.JERRY'S A QUICK STUDY.
SEVEN WAS THE MOST MEMBERS WE EVER HAD.IT WAS MAINLY BECAUSE PETER WAS THE DRUMMER, AND LEAD SINGER.WHEN HE LEFT,WE HAD TO GET TWO GUYS TO REPLACE HIM.
AND AS FAR AS WHO HAD TO TRAVEL ON THE ROOF OF THE VAN??? THE NEW GUY,OF COURSE!! SENIORITY RULES!!! LOL.
