Oh my goodness. I only just found this. Quite shocked and saddened. R.I.P Gil.

Gil was seriously ill with Alzheimer's at the time of his death. A vaccine wasn't going to change his life.

Ralph, I saw you've posted Gil died of Alzheimer's on Soulful Detroit, and you say here Gil was seriously ill with the disease. I have written an email to you asking you stop saying this because it is not true, but to no avail. You were not in Gil's life whatsoever. I have no clue why you keep posting this. My husband, Gil Bridges, died from complications of Covid. Covid attacked Gil's lungs. He was indeed diagnosed with the onset of Alzheimer's and was truly afraid of what could happen. Gil was doing fine until we both caught Covid. Although there is no shame in a diagnosis, or being ill with Alzheimer's, however, your statement is not true, so I am now asking you publicly to stop posting this.

Thank you, to those who remembered Gil with your kind condolences. He was the sweetest man, and he worked hard on his music until the day he was stricken with Covid. He could play and sing just as good as he performed when he was a young man.

God Bless,

Gil's wife, Johnnie Sue Bridges

These days of December of 2021 were very difficult for me. I was focused on my family and I didn`t even notice the passing of this fantastic man. I had never seen Rare Earth in action, but they are one of my favorite band ever.

Thank you for the big music! Rest in eternal love and joy, Gil.
