Dan-Can you be a little more specific as to what CD you are referring to? Is it a CD of new material that the present line-up is rumored to be working on? Or perhaps you've heard a rumor about a release of older archived material someplace. In either case someone may be able to answer your question had they a little more info. JockoD

On a couple of threads on the forum Jocko, "Ray Leaving Rare Earth" and "old friends" there is talk of the new cd but perhaps I am reading between the lines too much.  Ivan mentions a new song called "Say Goodbye" and Rick Warner comments too.  I hope it is a new cd and not my imagination!

Yes Dan it is a new CD with all new original material written from within the group of today.We hope to have it completed by fall.We might make a few of the cuts available for download off the web site in the very near future. Thanks for asking, Gil Bridges.

Hey Dan........Yes  a new CD is coming down the pike for Rare Earth. Entirely new material, a great new feel but still has the distinctive Rare Earth sound. This project is most of the way completed, and I'd guess to say should be available by spring 2007. You will see it offered on our web page store. Enjoy!

Gil, If the some of the new songs I heard during one of you 2005 shows are making it onto the new CD I believe the new CD will be awesome. I had to leave the show early that evening after the band's performance because it was my two year old daughter's very first Rare Erath concert and it was starting to get late. MY wife is a general manager at the venue you preformed in and not five minutes after I left the theatre with my daughter the band came out into the lobby and did a meet in greet.
 My wife spoke with you guys for a bit and she tried to persuade me to come back to the theatre to meet you guys again but my daughter had already fallen asleep in the car on the way home. Up until that point in time I hadn't seen the band play live in a number or years but the legendary Rare Earth legacy rocked on the night I attended the show. I've met many band members starting way back in 1973 and going all the way up to the present. (Minus the last year and a half of course). I'm the guy who took the photos that made their way onto the "Different World" CD.back around 1992. I would have loved to have chatted with you for a bit that evening but I guess I'll have to wait for next time which I hope will be coming up in July. Jocko D

Seems that way sad to say, this cd has been talked about since 2005.  I have read interviews with Gil on other sites not even relavant to the band.  This is the site where the Earth fans are Gil!

Has Gil had anything to say regarding the CD in these interviews?  With the non appearance of the CD plus those other comments calling for a shake up of the setlist, the picture doesn't look too rosy does it?

Well let me tell you nobody is more dissappointed at the new Rare Earth CD not being completed a long time ago.The main factor being Ivan moving to Traverse City a year ago. I was assured that this would not hurt our progress.Well progress came to a halt since then.I have spoke to Ivan in regards to this as well as the whole band and we have commited to finishing at least all the recording for the CD by the end of September and  having a finished product by Christmas.We are also planing a European tour in the spring of 2008 to promote it.
  I also appreciate the comments of putting new songs in our show.We will also be doing that very soon.We will add some other Rare Earth tunes such as "Were gonna have a good time,Good Time Sally,etc. as well as some of the new stuff.We will lengthen our show.Please be patient a little longer as we really try to get this done.

Nice to see you on the forum Gil. My first chance to say "hi" to you and "thanks" for the great music you've provided over the years.

It would be great to see a new Rare Earth CD in time for Christmas. I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to hear what Ivan's guitar playing sounds like.

As for the prospect of you coming to Europe...who knows, I might get to see my favourite band play live after all, even if you are the only original member. Tell you what, I'd love to see you include Good Time Sally and I Couldn't Believe What Happened Last Night in the new setlist.

Any views on Motown / Universal's apparent lack of interest in putting out proper CD re-issues of One World and Willie Remembers?

UK Dave. Sorrey for the delay in replying sometimes i dont get on the computer for quite a while.i dont know what the problem is with Universal not releasing those CD's. It's really stupid as they are in demand.If i thought i could make them move on this i sure would. If i could be any help let me know.Thanks for the welcome.

Gil, I noticed for a while there were live concert videos of recent shows available through the official Rare Earth website. Are there any plans in the works for any live CD recordings with the current line up? I have the studio CD featuring the current line up and I enjoy listening to it a great deal but it would be nice to also have a live set with this line up. Jocko D

Hi Jocko D We are waiting until we are playing the longer show with new material so we just dont have anouther CD with the same songs that are available on so many different CD's.We will record a live CD next summer.Thanks for asking.Gil

Hi All,,

It's been forever since my last post.. Just forever and ever..

First, I would like to personally apologize for the delay in getting this Record done.. A Lot has happened over the last few years, the biggest and most painful of these items has been moving three times.. Well, I am now settled in to my home town with the family and we finally feel like we're home.. We're very happy about this..

This record has been quite a journey.. We were making fine progress but the inevitable and relentless presence of "time" slowed it down.. I asked God to add another 10 hours to each day, and he lovingly laughed and said "Yeah, Right!".. In all seriousness though. It has taken much longer than we had hoped and your continued interest in the new record is something that we find to be very moving.. Really!.

Here's where the "Tech" stuff is today.. The Final Mastering is taking place NOW!! This is great news.. While I can't give a date, I can now say that we HAVE a record and we are very proud of it..  Every aspect of the record making process is moving fast now.

The Guys have been saints! They have been very patient and understanding about how insane my life has been over the last few years.. They've gone out of their way to make it as painless as possible.. There was a time when we just could not put the time together to get everyone in one place.. Thankfully, this changed and we have worked hard on it. It's MIXED!!..

I want to say something from a musical and personal standpoint.. Being a member of this band has changed my life. when we DO get together and play it feels and sounds great, and the new tunes are breathing new life into a band that already had plenty!.. As Gil has mentioned, we will be working new tunes into the show. I can't say which tunes or the CIA would arrest me an hour after hitting the send button on this message.. {or something like that}.. .. But the show will be changing, and that's great!!

  We really think people will like this new record. It was made with loving hands and the guys played their asses off, quite frankly. As I was charged with most of the engineering tasks, {happily}, I can say from the engineers chair, that I'm proud of the work. I'm even MORE proud of how well the band played on this stuff. And while the scheduling part was stressful, the music making part was a real joy for all of us..

Well, just some thoughts here, and a chance to say hello..I'll try not to be such a stranger.

Thanks to everyone again for waiting patiently for this new record. I'm sorry it's taken so, so, very long. I hope you find it was worth the wait..

Chicago Tommy.........Yes, we are now counting days not weeks. I have heard most of the final product and I have to admit the band outdid themselves on this one. The end result is going to be SUPERB and worth all the wait. Its people like you that have kept this band in the public's mind and I want to thank you for being such a visible follower of this band. No offense Mark M, but how do you know the new CD is here, if you don't know where to find it? I confused although my first cup of coffee awaits me downstairs.


Can you or anyone else on the Forum confirm the name of the new CD? Is it "A Brand New World?"

To Mark, No problem, believe me I'm nearly positive that the band will be relieved when it is released -so I won't be pestering them asking when it will be released. We are all here asking that and all I know is soon. Yeah like that helps right.? I thought perhaps I missed the release, hard to imagine I would though. I had not seen the video so I cannot comment, wish I had. You certainly did not jump the gun, and I hope I didn't come accross as anything more than a really big fan ready for the upcoming release.

The one thing the video said was that the cd would be available through CD BABY and rareearth.com.

Hi All! Hi Tommy, Make sure you save some Chi Town Pie for us!!

Hey, good news. The CD has been manufactured and will available soon . We are finalizing some Legal issues and Publishing and the like, which is important stuff. This is all going as planed and we will let you know when you can finally hear it. It should be very soon now..

We're exited!! Thanks to everyone for hanging in there. The next one wont take this long.. =D>

All in all, we feel great about the future! We will be adding new tunes to the show and hopefully playing more dates..

As for the pizza, let's just say...it's on.

Great update on the pending CD release. Almost as exciting is what you mentioned about the next CD release. But I, digress.

Though I love hearing the classics, I know the band will select where, in terms of song order, and what new material to play live.
