I have been eye-ing the two already available. Now I can get the whole set (though it's of course not completely accurate that One World and Willie Remembers have never been on CD)
As part of the Fill Your Head rip off box set then yes One World and WR have been out however all other releases have been poor bootlegs so these are 1st time releases as actual albums
I've just woken from a very strange dream. Cutting out the fuller detail, I dreamt I was in a local record store (long gone now of course) when someone came over and asked if it was true that I was a big fan of Rare Earth. When I said yes, this guy said someone wanted to meet up with me to discuss their work and what it was that I enjoyed about their music. A time was arranged and three American guys in suits turned up and ushered me into a shoebox of an office. They greeted me by shaking hands and invited me to sit down, to which I joked about the tiny office. One of them didn't like my comment and said they hadn't come to discuss offices and were pushed for time. They plonked three banknotes on the table and asked me to tell them why I loved Rare Earth. They started writing notes and nodding enthusiastically. After about two minutes, the impatient one butted in and said "And tell us about the time you saw Rare Earth playing live". I said "Live? I never saw them play live" Their faces immediately turned sour and they started grunting at each other asking why they'd flown all this way for nothing. They made their excuses and left the room with me shouting after them "Don't blame me. I never claimed I'd seen them play live. How could I? They never even played in the UK". But they were well out of earshot by this time. I opened my hand and I was still clutching the banknotes. The easiest £30 I ever earned I thought to myself. I then convinced myself that these were some Universal Records people trying to find out different opinions on why people thought Rare Earth were so good live, so they could compile some sleeve notes for a future live album from the Motown vaults. I was semi awake by this stage. Strange how such dreams are triggered. Probably a couple of glasses of dodgy red wine I drank before I went to sleep. Anyway....stupid dream but I thought I'd share it.
Hello everybody. I was in the website of culturefactoryusa and opened an account. But as I was entering the necessary information for a future billing and shipping, I suddenly found myself before a message telling me that "We are sorry, no shipment method matches the characteristics of your order." (I live in Germany.) What could I do then if I want to pre-order the Live in Chicago, or even if I want to buy any other material? Thanks in advance for your ideas, and kind regards.
Just everyone's FYI, it looks like the Get Ready issue from culturefactory is out of stock on their website and Amazon. Ther are a few sellers changing basically 2x list price on Amazon.
The Ecology release is still available, but who knows if it might be headed to a similar fate.
I wonder if they will they be re-printing these to go along with the new releases?

Ok,
Hold onto the cd I made of the test pressing, as it's not identical to this 2 LP set:
Hey, Big Brother 7:39
Born To Wander 8:41
Big John Is My Name 7:19
Ma 12:28
(I Know) I'm Losing You 13:33
I Just Want To Celebrate 5:29
Get Ready 16:09
Big Brother, Born To Wander and Big John look to be the same time-wise. Just different index points.
Now, where is Ma on this 2 LP set?!!! Uh oh.
Losing You and Celebrate are each a bit longer. Either the performances on my test pressing were edited and complete on the 2 LP set, or the versions on the 2 LP set are alternate performances. Please note that the band did play three nights at Arie Crown Theatre in Chicago. Get Ready is a little shorter on this @ LP set, compared to the test pressing. Those who've heard the live performance of Get Ready that Pete shared in 2008, that one is also different from the test pressing.
I suspect that there were edits made for the test pressing, and this set restores the edits for Losing You and Celebrate. It will be interesting to hear the contents.
Well whatever it contains I'm very contented. Hats raised to everyone who kept bashing the ears of Universal, Mike especially, but everyone else too. It's a result we've waited a long time for.
True to my promise, I've pre-ordered my copy and it's gonna feel like Christmas has arrived a month early when it drops through my letterbox on the estimated delivery date of November 25th.
I'm hoping to follow up with the proposed releases of One World and Willie Remembers if they are still planned for release.
Don't see this up on the Culture Factory site yet, but so happy and excited to see this! I will pre-order as soon as t appears.
Mike D - I was one of those that didn't get to hear the test pressing (not that I blame you as you don't know me personally) but thanks for the update. If these are different versions on the official release, I am hoping there might be a way to get your alternates, but I I certainly do not want to jepardize any other releases.
Also hoping the band members get something from these releases.
They will almost 100% be the same other than maybe a few more or a few less seconds plus edits as Mike suggests.
As for Ma not being on the album ............ "Yes, it was tough to decide what song to leave out from the concert recording, but we needed to go ahead with a total of only 7 tracks to be able to fit this album on a single CD"
The order of the tracks was guided by Gil.
The good thing is that they are from the master tapes so are going to sound top notch.
Also confirmed ........... the other 3 releases will be early 2015.
Marty, Please e-mail me at jocko90@optonline.net. I burned the Calgary 82 club gig with the WR line up onto CD and it sounds awesome. This show brings back a lot of memories for me because I saw the band two weeks before the Calgary gigs at another club gig in Lake Hoptacong, NJ. Best night of my life.
After catching 70's gigs 2 nights in Forest Hills Tennis Stadium, 2 nights at MSG, two nights at The Spectrum, one night at Lincoln Center, one night at Raceway Park, two shows at Hofstra university, a single show at Tampa stadium and finally the Apollo Theatre it was great to catch the boys at our first club gig. Up close and personal and Gil invited us backstage after the show to party with the boys and man we partied to the sun rose. Being 150 miles away from our homes in Brooklyn so I thout it would be best to call in sick that morning and not report to NYC police academy for duty that day. Might have been my last day if I showed up with my head filled with all that dirt.
Marty, I also have the Harpo,s 1980 Detroit show with the WR line up I can send you too and possibly a few others you may not have. Please send me your mailing address and I'll get them out to you ASAP. Cheers, Jocko
PS-If any one else would like these two compact discs free of charge send me your mailing addresses.
And please don't forget to fill you head with dirt daily!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Only around a week or so to go, if the original release date is still to schedule!!
Got an email overnight from amazon:
"We're still trying to obtain the following item[s] you ordered
Rare Earth "Live in Chicago"
Still want it? We'll keep on trying. To keep your order for this item open, please click the link below. Otherwise, we'll cancel your order on December 18, 2014, if we haven't located it by then."
Hoping that they just have bad information or it's just slightly delayed or something. Fingers crossed....
I would have been happy to order on culture factory website, but they didn't put it up until the last few days. So amazon got my pre-order business at $17.
I am just happy that this will show up today or tomorrow and I can finally hear something I've only been dreaming of for many years.
Mine arrived today via Amazon UK. Not played it yet but love the way they replicated black vinyl plus the Rare Earth label on the CD itself. This attention to detail is a refreshing change.
Can you not order it through Amazon (Canada)? You could order now and have it by the 16th according to their website. Just a thought. That only applies to Live in Chicago. The others are not released yet.
I believe the tracks Big John, I'm Losing You and Celebrate are different versions then the ones on the test pressing.
Jocko,
Big John, Losing You and Celebrate are entirely different from the test pressing.
Really? So this means there were other unreleased versions in the can. Maybe a different night in Chicago or maybe recorded somewhere else? Or maybe the test pressing was from another source?
So even if we now have the official release, there are still other versions...
I am now curious why "In Concert" isn't being remastered and re-released. I was fortunate to snag a copy brand new CD copy back when it was first released, and the seem to go for very high price on the secondary market. Plus, it is one of the greatest live albums ever released and probably could sound even better with modern remastering.
I too am curious why "In Concert" isn't being released with the other new releases. It's been out of print for decades so people would definitely purchase it. Perhaps the powers at be decided two live album releases around the same time wouldn't make sense.
Even though they're releasing Get Ready, Ecology, One World and Wille Remembers those four LP's' were included in the Fill Your Head box set. Perhaps a newly remastered version of "In Concert" will be released some time in the future.
And if they decided to omit the tracks from In Concert that were cut in the studio such as "Thoughts" and "Nice To Be With You" that would leave one full album side for additional material.
The 1971 tour was to promote the "One World" LP and only one track from that album made it onto "In Concert". A 1971 version of "Tobacco Road" with John playing bass would make a nice addition too.
Dreams & Answers is being released so that's not been on CD before.
For most of us Fill Your Head was beyond expensive so One World and Willie Remembers will be important reissues.
Personally I would hope for Rareearth, Band Together, Midnight Lady, Back To Earth and the Frank Wilson sessions before In Concert. With more or less the same track listing as Chicago....it may have to wait.
Unless I'm misunderstanding, there were actually two songs off "One World" featured on In Concert; I Just Want to Celebrate plus What'd I Say. I'm guessing that they probably didn't feature any of the other OW songs in their set, which is a real pity, but I'd love to hear different from someone that knows.

I would hate for them to not re-release "Thoughts" as that is a fantastic tune. I recall reading some threads on this board where Ray discussed the recording of that one and another that compared the "in Concert" version "Fresh From the Can". (I'll like to find those threads again to re-read) It's one of those earfuls of dirt that should be on all "Best of" compilations.
I know its not the physical copy that some of you want, but "In Concert" is available on Itunes.
Not sure who this was directed at, but I have my original "In Concert" vinyl and the CD (one of the first CD's I bought in the early 90's). I was just thinking a remaster with better sound would be nice to have.
