My first date with my husband was to a Rare Earth concert in Colorado Springs on I believe June 27, 1973. I was 16 and he was 18. That will be 40 years ago this June!! We were married in 1976. Have three children and 6 grandchildren. Rare Earth will always hold a special place in our hearts because it was where it all began for us! Thank you!!
Congratulations on your forthcoming Ruby(?) Anniversary Kathy. Wow, it sounds like you saw the band in its heyday, although with first date nerves I'm guessing you probably can't remember too much about the detail.
The funny part was I was kinda of dating someone else at the time, bit I really wanted to go to this concert. It was my first one and yes it was awesome. But I remember the first date jitters just as vividly!

Kathy, that is such a nice story! Music can influence so many people in so many good ways. I listened to Rare Earth music when I worked in a record store. I just loved the band & its good rockin' sounds. I began to write with that good sound in the background, then wrote for publication...and now, all these years later, I have over 200 published articles & eight books to my credit. Those great sounds inspired me, I am sure. Congrats & best wishes.
