Global Popularity of Rare Earth
Permalink

A post from Per - Erik from Sweden prompts me to ask if there is any part of the world where Rare Earth were never really known? Their records seem to have been widely issued throughout Europe and Scandinavia and when you look on eBay you see records for sale from all corners of the globe, including the Middle East. Back in those days there was no internet or You Tube. Presumably Motown Records was the platform for getting their records out into the big wide world. I bought my first Rare Earth record from a shop in the Republic of Ireland. This was the Get Ready single on the Tamla Motown label. I like to think it was the best record I ever bought, bearing in mind it lead to me buying One World, In Concert and all the previous and following albums.

HI DAVE,

WAY BACK,ON THE STATEMENTS,THEY WOULD LIST ALL THE MAIN COUNTRIES WHERE THE RECORDS WERE SOLD. THEN THEY WOULD LUMP THE REST UNDER A HEADING CALLED "REST OF WORLD". ???

IN MORE RECENT TIMES,THEY LIST ALL COUNTRIES,AND INDEED THE WHOLE WORLD IS COVERED.

Rare earths are also known as technology metal, because without the use of rare earths it would not be possible to make the latest digital technology products. Although rare earths are used in small quantities, their role is pivotal. Unlike other elements, the rare earths industry is dominated by China, which accounted for 95.3% of the total global production.

This is very true. It is my area of work. Believe me though, China does hold many other elements besides the rare earths, and for those specific products, they DO dominate the world market supply as well.
