At least the flood waters in the St George area where the wife's family are from have receded, and the repairs can begin.cry

Seems like you were not on Santa's "Good Boy" list after all ;)

We had snow this morning. Nothing serious but it came down suddenly and it was wet and sticky.  I work in an area that is on high ground and I tried to take a different route with less inclines. I was brought to a standstill by trucks ahead of me that were stuck. I had to keep turning around and trying a different route through country lanes. This took me into areas i wasn't familiar with and before I knew it I was miles away from where I needed to be. The further I went the more I  encountered trucks that were stuck. I tried several routes back but in the end I had to go further out until i reached a major road and then headed home. The journey normally takes exactly 30 minutes. My round trip took me 2 hours 45 minutes and I had the embarrassment of phoning in and finding everyone else had got in ok, although one lady bumped her 2 month old car and two others were forced to abandon their cars and walk the last mile. Walk the last mile? You gotta be kidding lol. (cue the lyrics to Kirsty Macoll's "In These Shoes?")

It's now turned to rain (as it said it would).

Dave      You'll have to get your self a 4x4 with a snow plow so you can make a few extra Pounds on the way to work, you know beer money.smile .All the snow predicted here over the weekend never arrived. But it is snowing now, I was watching Stark Trek and there was no snow at 1:00pm, by 1:30 it had started, now it has turned into a full blown storm, high winds and snow,or as it would be better described, snowin' like a ba$%&#d.So you know what that means.......CHOMP!CHOMP!CHOMP!biggrinbiggrinbiggrin.I think this may be a good day to sit on the couch plug in a movie and sip on a cold one or three.

Dave      The CHOMPOMETER reads biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin knee deep snow, 91/2 hrs of snow clearing over Wed.@Thurs.You should trademark all these names you are thinking up. Adverse Meteorologial Conditions, now Chompometer, you could get rich, or at least get beer money.wink

Yes I've seen the news from Brisbane it looks bad, unfortunely I've seen similar pictures from the St.George area of New Brunswick in December, luckly though we had no deaths. My brother-inlaw told me the water came so fast there was nothing people could do.cry

Rio de Janeiro and Sri Lanka suffering too. On the TV we see people clinging to trees in the hope of being airlifted to safety, people weeping over lost family, annual crops being destroyed in a matter of a few hours......it really puts things into perspective.

Dave          It snowed Saturday night, biggrinbiggrin on the Chompometer, just enough to be a pain in the ass.

The things going on around the world it does make you think and be thankful we haven't got caught in anything that would cause that much destruction.
