There is a new dvd out by Rare Earth and you have not even bothered to let people know about it, what kind of a fan site is this. Your website is also out of date for concerts taking place so how can we know if they are`playing anywhere?
Try dropping the attitude problem for a start. Good grief, did Santa forget to visit you or something?
This is a site run on a voluntary basis by two very dedicated Rare Earth fans. It is not their job to chase up information on the band although if they know of anything then they will always publish it. After all, we all want to promote Rare Earth as much as possible.
Can I recommend that next time try the following approach:
"Hey guys, I'm new to this site and it appears that you might be unaware that a new live DVD of the band has become available. For those of you who are interested, further information can be obtained from etc etc."
As for concert listings, the official Rare Earth website provides this information and the last date was in September 2010. PresumablyThis means that they don't have any gigs currently scheduled. It is not normal policy for a fan site to carry such information because it can be subject to change and I'm sure that the administrators would not want to be responsible for someone travelling to a cancelled gig because the information is incorrect.
Oh yeah, and next time do have the courage to post your name. We might defend the band, the forum and the website but we don't bite (although Al from Canada does under adverse meteorological conditions)
You and I, plus countless others, know that John and Richard have worked their "what der yer call ems" off putting this site together for Rare Earth fans. It covers not just the group but the Rare Earth label as well (e.g refer to the Impact of Brass active thread) which is no small task. They've done it voluntarily and members of the band past and present, plus producers, are happy to visit and contribute. Contrary to the title of the thread, this site is PACKED with information.
The fact that Peter Rivera, Ray Monette and Ralph Terrana visit and actively participate in this forum is all the endorsement this website needs.
PS There's actually very little information on the new DVD on the official site but the clip looks great.
I went in to buy the dvd but I found it very secretive as you need to email the band about it before you buy???? No doubt it would be delivered in a plain paper wrapping and left behind a building somewhere. Come on Rare Earth advertise it properly.
I guess "Anonymous" hasn't looked in on this fine website to see what takes place here. Stick with us, dude. There's more than meets the eye going on at any given time thanks to a great group of people that really know there stuff. You might learn a thing or two.
The new DVD "Rare Earth Live" has not been officially released yet. We are making a audio CD of the show to be offered with the DVD or seperately. This will be available by April. If somebody wants the DVD now they can e=mail me and i will send you one for $20 E-Mail rareearthsax@aol.com
Yeh Ralph to bad we missed each other. I was looking forward to it. We will do it sometime soon im sure. Hope the new year brings you lots of Blessings.
Gil, that news is awesome. Ralph, good see you posting here also. I have been absent from this site due to work, but was listening to some Rare earth on CD in the car. I'm looking forward to the DVD and CD alike. My work schedule prevented me from seeing Rare Earth last summer, good to be working again, but I need to work on my schedule. The DVD preview looked sweet, can't wait to watch it start to finish.
