Being a massive fan of Chairmen of the Board and, in particular their frontman Norman "General" Johnson, I'm devastated to have stumbled on the news that he passed away on October 13th. I was not aware that he was suffering from lung cancer.

Besides his unique voice, the General was a great songwriter, probably best known for the song "Patches". He also wrote hits for some of the Hot Wax label artists such as Honeycone and 100 Proof (Aged in Soul). Ray Monette was well aquainted with General having played sessions with COTB. I'm sure he will be equally saddened as I am.
