Stuart I got it off ebay from honestredsrecords Ottawa, Ontario,It took 10 days by mail.I'll tell you I am some happy I bought it the sound is fantastic,my copy is on Motown Canada, even has the insert.Goodluck I hope you do not have to wait to long.
"......20 or 30 minutes of Get Ready. Just do it for as long as you want to get into it alright? Outta sight".
Al, I've had to stop what I'm doing and put it on. OK, I'm listening to my mp3'd version but it surely has to be one of the most listenable sides of a vinyl LP ever!!
You got that right Dave, as I type I've got side four spinning. This is such a great album, what more can you get for your money then an insert with live action shots!Gee sounds like a hockey game
Boy, I miss that album. Haven't had a copy since the early '80's. I've been listening to Dylan's Love and Theft lately. What a great album. Love the way it swings and Dylan's raspy vocals. Has to be in the top 5 of Dylan albums.
Had a buddy stop by last night and he brought a few of his LPs.He hasn't heard them in 25 years, no turntable, I shudder at the thought.Anyway these are the LPS Samain - Vibrations of Doom. This is the first time I've ever heard of this band, it is a 1984 release on Roadrunner label/Attic records all I could find on them was that this was their only album and they were from Germany.Anybody know any more? UFO - Mechanix Ozzy Ozbourne- Diary of a Madman Queen- News of the World
Last night we went to the Imperial theatre to the New Brunswick Emerging Artists show. These performers are all in their 20's,Owen Steel, Andy Brown, Lisa LeBlanc, Babette Hayward. It was a damn good show, I really enjoyed myself.I also picked up three cds Owen Steel - et al, Andy Brown- False Alarm, Babette Hayward- 6 song EP( the cover for the cd is a small brown paper bag) I think is neat, I called her the girl with the brown paper bag album cover when we talked to her after the show.Talked with all four of them in the lobby Owen Steel is from the same part of the province as my wife so they had plenty to talk about. Lisa Leblanc who is from the north shore where my wife's parents where from and of course she knows some of the wife's family and they got to talking, I went to talk to Andy Brown and band they are on their way to NYC to record. To sum it up a great time was had by one and all.
9pm here in rainy Grand Bay, Jethro Tull- Benefit is spinning as I type.I've been watching football all day and half the night, playoffs in collage last week of season in pros.Started at 2pm and it is still on, though I've muted the sound.Needed a music fix, and yes Dave I've had a few adult beverages.
It was a trip starved of beer. i only went out on two nights out of the five. A poor showing on my part. Had a can or two though, plus some red wine. I'll be back on the proper beer tonight though!!
Welcome back the straight and narrow, ok then maybe not so straight, the neck of a beer bottle is narrow, right?I am sipping on a glass of Irish lager, to celebrate your return. Now don't over do it tonight, you may have to nurse the first beer, then let all hell break loose!I've got Tommy Shaw - Girls With Guns playing on the turntable. By myself tonight, van problems, so my wife stayed at my daughters tonight, woohoo party time, yea, NOT!!!! I have to work in the morning. catch ya later
Well...since my turntable a year and a half ago (after I re-did a big transfer job ), i've been listening to the following:
1. Billy Joel: Glass Houses, 52nd Street * The limited edition (5,000) 24 kt gold cd's from the Audio Fidelity label. Early this summer I emailed the head of the label suggesting Glass Houses as a possible candidate for issue. Lo and behold, I got an email back saying they got the rights to issue the album. Then 2 weeks later the head of the label asks me what I think of them doing "52nd Street". "Go for it" I said. Well, I received copies of each this week from the head of the label, as I had been the main inspiration for these being released. Both cd's were mastered from the original master tapes. And the sonics are amazing.
Mike Since you got drag with record company big wigs, what's the chances of you smozzing it up, pulling some strings and getting Rare Earth's music remastered and released.
Got some good old Canadian boys Teaze - On The Loose spinning as I type.
I can tell you that long attempts have been made to get the unreleased stuff out of the record companies regarding Rare Earth material and despite many promises it always ends up the same.....bull****.

Hi Al,
Don't ge wrong I only sent a suggestion. I consider myself lucky actually. The head of the label liked the idea, they licensed the album from Sony/Columbia and voila!
I have emailed Harry Weinger @ Universal before. Actually, that was early 2008. Yikes, almost 3 years. I'll have to dig up his email address and send another email. The box set was "good" but it was missing some things. If I could convince him to release some unreleased material, that'd be great. Rare Earth is overshadowed by the other big names in the Motown canon.
The administrator of this forum (JOHN) knows all about the material in the vaults. I only know some stuff :) If the label really wanted to, there's enough for at least half a dozen cd's. That, I do know I feel John's frustration too.
LOL I forgot about that Al. 32 pints of beer available at the turn of a tap. My Dad got a few dirty looks and sarcastic comments. The beers weren't that brilliant though. It wasn't the best of experiments.
A lot of Gerry Rafferty stuff, especially his 2009 release "Life Goes On." It is a compilation of two of his nineties albums and his 2000 release, Another World (sounds like a RE title) remixed, plus some new songs including a beautiful rendition of the Beatles' Because from Abby Road. The quality of his music never diminished up until the end.
Had Midnight lady on today.....I really like Wine,Women,Song....Jerry puts his Heart and Soul into the song,However I can live without the Background singing by the Waters sisters, they totally wrench it!...Did Norman have an off day?....Thats my take...

It was probably what Norman felt the track needed...Ray's guitar cuts through all of it.
Dave If your interested in any snow I would be happy to ship it to you or you could pick it up yourself,I have plenty to go around. I played Firefall- Luna Sea, the album cover is a scene of sunshine and sandy beach, palm trees, not a snow flake anywhere to be seen.
Just been reading about the snow in Dallas and 7 people injured by snow and ice falling from the roof of the Cowboys' stadium. Looking forward to watching the Superbowl on TV tonight.
i won't take you up on your offer Al. we did our snow thing early this year. Now all I want is spring to arrive....but no doubt they'll be a sting in the tail.
Dave I heard that the snow had fallen and injured a few people, the last thing I heard that one person was seriously hurt.I went to friend's house last night to watch the superbowl,I had the odd adult beverage and a big ass pizza. A sloppy game by both teams I thought,Packers couldn't catch the ball and the Steelers couldn't hold on to it.What did you think of the half time show?I would rather have had a rock 'n roll band play,we where wondering at the party how many of the fans at the game where into the show. I had heard on news the day before the game that the U.S.ads for the game were aimed at a 14-24 year old demogragtic. We don't get those ads in Canada, here they are mostly recycled ads.
Heard this morning that Gary Moore former guitarist for THIN LIZZY has died.I've got THIN LIZZY-Johnny The Fox playing.I don't think he played on this album but it is the only THIN LIZZY I've got.
I watched most of the Superbowl. It was way past 2am for the last quarter so i briefly drifted off to sleep only to wake up as the presentation was taking place. I thought the Chompers, err sorry, the Stealers, were going to stage a massive fight back.
I always enjoy the half time show but as I've said before (and wasn't it you who said it first to Gustavo?) Black eyed Peas don't do very much for me at all. I think they sho;d have had Phil Collins on there, if only to see Ray playing guitar!!!!
If you're looking in Ray, yesterday I bought the Phil Collins Roseland Bowl Concert on Blu Ray so I'm really looking forward to watching that.

Sad news about Gary. You need to get the Black Rose album to hear Gary's playing.
Also check out his album in homage to Peter Green: Blues For Greeny.
I can't even imagine two and a half feet of snow. We got ten inches and that was bad enough. Well I guess you'll be chomping for a few days.
On the plus side the days are getting longer and the dreaded white stuff shouldn't hang around for too long.
I'm not sure why I put Bowl instead of Ballroom. I had the DVD in my hand as I wrote it. I've not watched the DVD yet. There's an amazing 26 songs on there!!!!
Ah, now I see why I said Bowl. I'd been on about the Superbowl earlier in the post. I thought there must be a logical explanation. I had Bowl on the brain LOL.
Ray If any of you guys in the BIG D want to import any of snow ,we've got some fresh stuff falling here since early this morning,no charge.Maybe after I dig myself out I'll go and try to find that dvd.
Dave Ballroom, Bowl I can understand the mix up, superbowl hang over, to many adult beverages, pizza, peanuts....oh hold on, that's me.
THANKS FOR THE OFFER.....BUT WE'RE DOING FINE WITH WHAT WE GOT. YOU GUYS ARE THE SNOW EXPERTS. THAT TWO AND A HALF FEET IS THE MOST WE'VE HAD IN YEARS. AND.......YOU PROBABLY KNOW THAT WE BLAME ALL OF OUR BAD WEATHER ON YOU GUYS.LOL

RAY
We've got plenty here in Iowa to share too Ray. Not as bad as the Winter of 1979. 2 feet of snow in a day and a half. My dad said he & mom were snowed in for 2 days. Couldn't go anywhere.
I've been listening to 3 Jimi Hendirx projects I put together:
1. Wintererland Ballroom; San Fran, CA; Oct. 10-12, 1968 * Includes every track from those shows officially released.
2. Los Angeles Forum; April 1969...from a rare rough mix that was done in 1969 * Complete show
3. Sports Arena; San Diego, CA; May 1969...using the officially released tracks plus the missing performance of "Foxey Lady" taken from a rough mix in 1969. * Complete show...GREAT show too.
Dave Something tells me you may have had the ODD BEER before I allegedly led you down the wrong path.
Ray You know here in THE GREAT WHITE NORTH it is metric snow, so it wouldn't take up as much space in your back yard.
Mike Thanks for the heads up on the album titles for Gary Moore's guitar playing.I say if Ray doesn't want yours or my snow we ship it all over to Dave.

Got Bob McBride- Sea Of Dreams spinning now.
That'll require a LOAD of dry ice to keep it from melting.
Just in from getting my water back on again, spent the last 9 hours without any.The repairman finished replacing all the wiring to the pump, which is a submersible down around 250ft,of course that means we had to pull all the pipe and the pump out of the well.My hands are still a bit numb from the cold.We had to dig the well head out, thankfully the casing was visible even with all the snow.It is few feet above ground that saved us alot of digging. So that means I have to do the dishes!
The sun is shinning,I've still got running water. Can life get any better?
Got Lighthouse - Peacing It All Together, spinning,no hold on it just ended now it is a some band called Rare Earth - Get Ready, anyone ever hear of them?
I read this morning that The Cars are releasing a new album, first in 24 years.
It has been a good day,my wife and I sat out on the deck sipping on a few cold ones, now we are inside still sipping on a few cold ones and listening to some tunes,Rare Earth Get Ready, now Iron Butterfly,ROCK ON BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sitting here listening to Chicago Transit Authority, I found the LP at a second hand store on Thursday for $1.99, it is in really good shape, you hear a few snap crackle & pops, other then that the sound is excellent, the cover is also in good shape though I had to glue it back together. But hell at that price you can't kick. The last time I had a copy of this it was an 8 Track, now that wasn't yesterday.
No Rare Earth anywhere in sight,I even checked out the 45s and cassettes.
The rain has stopped and I think I saw the sun peak through the clouds,(sorry Dave no snow)I've got JETT BLACK - Night Flight spinning now.
Earlier while it was pouring instead of getting out of bed I watched a classic scifi film,a movie so famous they made three sequels, a movie unequaled by any other that came after,Star Wars,Star Trek,Indiana Jones,Back To The Future, not one of these could hold a candle to this unbelieveable film,of course I'm speaking of the sit on the edge of your seat thriller: ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES!
Just finished work,I'm chief cook and bottle washer in the O'Brien household(not really chief cook more like a figure head, bottle washer yes cook not so much),now I got dish pan hands.been listening to tunes.
