Need a Rare Earth Fix!!

Just discovered this web site.  I've been listening to RE since my teenage years and are one of my few "teenage years" bands that still demands my attention.  After discovering punk, I lost track of the band, so to speak.  I recently found some resonably priced vinyl covering their Prodigal years which I originally missed out on.  Man, these guys are just so great.  The Prodigal stuff was a bit too disco at times, but that instrumental flair is there throughout.  Why are groups today so afraid of showing any instrumental prowess?  That funky bass, the sinewy guitar lines, the thick percussion, those trademark vocals--when they had the right material and a sympathetic producer, there was nothing better.

Anyway, the reason I'm writing is that I've now got all the official, easily obtained RE recordings (mainly on vinyl from back in the 70s, but CD where available).  But I need more!  Nobody plays music like this anymore.  Through the web, I've discovered the existance of the rare Dreams/Answers LP, the unreleased Generation soundtrack and Live in Chicago albums, and the incredibly rare Canadian release Tight and Hot.  Apparently there are some Sunliners 45s out there as well.  I was hoping that somebody out there might have mp3s of some of this they might share with a fellow fan.  I swear to god I'd buy this stuff if I could find it since, as a musician myself, I think the band should get its cut.  But I have a feeling I'll die before any of this stuff is (re-)released except in fragments, and I'd so enjoy hearing some of this.

So, if you're a hard-core RE collector and want to help out a fan in need, let me know.  Either way, I've really enjoyed reading the posts here, especially when the band members kick in with comments.

Rick,
If you're looking for Sunliner 45s, I'll give you some titles you can search.
1: The Hully Gully Twist (I'd like to find this one myself.
2: The Islander ( I know this song was included on some album with multiple artists some years back)
3: Hit It
4: Little Girl Charm
5:The Swingin 'Kind

Except for #5 which was on the Golden World label, all others are on the Hurcules label.

Hi Ralph, did you hear that General Johnson died a few days ago? I know Ray knew him through his Invictus session work and I'm guessing you might have worked with him too over the years.

Chairmen of the Board visited the UK in 1975 and I managed to meet the man himself. I have to say he wasn't the most receptive person I ever met but maybe he was having a bad day or was just naturally reserved. It didn't diminish his reputation as a musician and performer though, and I'm gutted that he's been taken away from us.

Hi, Dave,
I'm sure our paths crossed many times, but I never really got to know the guy. His passing serves to illustrate how many we are losing that came out of that great musical era. I'm not sure if you're familar, but we just lost Weldon McDougle this past week.

Don't worry Ralph....we didn't lose anyone. They simply moved on to the next level....we'll all be there sooner than we think. I have a very warm, comforting feeling about this. Then when we all get there, we'll get to do it all over again! Peace and love.....TM
