Just watched the CBC news, they reported the flooding in the UK, I hope that any of the guys on the forum are not affected by this. I don't know the lay of the land in England so if it has affected any of you guys or anyone you know my thoughts are with you.
Its mainly in NW England in the Lake District. I am further south and on the eastern side so unaffected. I think Richard and John will be unaffected too as I THINK they are further south than me.
Its just rain and wind these last few days where I am, on top of a wet awful summer. We are getting these types of flooding incidents nearly every year now which is worrying. Imagine if that had been snow? Even your shovel wouldn't have been big enough!!!
Anonymous could you please in future use your real name, its good manners to identify yourself..
Down the years the Rare Earth fans that post regularly on this forum have become good online friends, Al and Dave being perfect examples of this. Its just Al showing concern from Canada about the Rare Earth fans across the other side of the world in the UK who are having a tough time of it at the moment with the weather conditions, its called showing concern Anonymous, you know hamanity etc...
The weather here in the UK is bad in parts, and 2 people have lost their lives, one a Police officer who was trying to save people from drowning... Al you your thoughts are appreciated, thanks friend. Anonymous your comments are not.........
As soon as I see an "anonymous" post I can just smell the negativity. Comments like this aren't worth the effort of a response. Please feel free to spend your viewing time somewhere else if this forum isn't good enough for you. After all, the web is busting with other Rare Earth fan sites to choose from. Oh wait, no it isn't, that's why you're gatecrashing this one.
Amonst all the heavy rain yesterday we had a mini tornado in our City. It did a lot of damage to roof tiles and even destroyed a brick garage. There's no end in sight to the rain and gales as storm after storm is lining up in the Atlantic. I pity those who live on the west side of the UK as they are being hardest hit. The worst rain is going to hit those already badly affected.
I had some new windows and doors fitted last week. I'll shut myself in tonight with a bottle or two of Fullers and the weather can get on with it. I won't feel or hear a thing :)
I can't think of a better way to spend an evening than with some good old Fullers, back in the 1980's when I was still living at home with my parents my Christmas present to myself and my father was a 36 pint polypin of Fullers London Pride, there was a Fullers Offlicence near by and Dad would take me in the car to pick up the 36 pinter, I think we must have done that for about 6 years running. I have got to tell you Dave it made the Yultide holiday much sweeter. Great times, I just wish my Dad was still here with us so we could do it again.....
Fullers beer seems to be a cure all for what ails ya. I've used that prescription myself on occasion. Honey Dew is the one I like the best, right Dave? I get a kick out of the fact you can order beer on line in the UK, beats the hell out of pizza delivery. Richard what is a 36 pint polypin? I can only assume it is a case of 36 beers? Here's hoping you guys get through the rough weather, be sure you recycle your empties.
Thanks for the good wishes. We appreciate it. It's quite wild out there tonight.
Al Fullers beers are my favourite as you know. The range includes Chiswick Bitter, London Pride, ESB, Discovery, Honeydew, Red Fox, Summer Ale, Jack Frost, London Porter, Vintage Ale, 1845 and Golden Pride. Isn't Honey Dew the one that fizzes up when you open the bottle?
A polypin is (I think) a polythene cask which some brewers supply for parties, functions etc. They are quite convenient.
Richard My Dad bought a cask of Marstons Pedigree one Christmas. That was when it used to be a good drink. 72 pints were in that barrel plus he bought a full Blue Stilton Cheese. What a Christmas that was.
I'm thinking of ordering one of those mail order casks (probably a polypin?) from Woodefords brewery I think its 18 pints and lasts up to 3 weeks.
Now look. Is this a Weather Site, a Beer Site or a Rare Earth Site???
You are making my mouth water, if you are getting in some Woodefords in for Xmas can I change my palns and join you for the festive period lol, many years ago I went on trip to their brewery in Norfolk, needless to say drink was taken...and delicious it was too. There is a pub that is in walking distance from here and they serve their ales from time to time. Going back to Fullers a good friend of mine who is a fully qualified chemist in the drinks industry taught the person who was head of quality control at their brewery in Chiswick West London back in the 80's everything about keeping good beers so back then you were certain of a good pint of their beers.
It's now 1.30 am here and the wind is so strong it's keeping me awake.
Dave It sounds like a keg of beer if I understand you, or a smaller version of one. Back in 82 when I was in Alberta for Christmas, we got a keg from Labatts. I can't remember how many pints it contained, all we had to do to get cold was put it out on the deck for a bit and presto!cold beer. My brother in law once got a 1/4 keg of Bush beer for his bachelor party, he bought it in the U.S. they live in a border town, and I never did figure out how he got pass Canada customs. Here's hopin' you get through the weather without a hang over.
