First heard this gem on the 1995 "Anthology" compilation.
To make a long story short, if the Wilson sessions hadn't crashed and burned..or even if intracompany politics at Motown woulda said 'roll out what we have in the can from this'..
Try to refrain from burning me as a heretic for this, but this is how I feel..
I truly belive that *if* "Funhouse" woulda been released Back In The Day (1974)...it woulda surpassed "I Just Want To Celebrtae" as *THE* song most closely identified with Rare Earth!
Get Ready will always be the song most closely identified with Rare Earth in my view. Especially the 80 minute live version (that's when I play the std version 4 times in sequence )
The Termite Terrace Titan, I also had heard Funhouse for the first time when the Anthology CD was released. I love the somg the arrangements and agree it most likely would have been a mega hit.

Looking forward to hearing when you and Stuart meet up and set up the Chicago Branch of the Rare Earth Appreciation Society!!! I'll be with you in spirit.
None of my friends know anything about Rare Earth but if I force feed them a few minutes of Get Ready it's amazing how it grabs their attention, particularly once the jamming sets in. Now punctuality has never been one of my strong points but 5 minutes late is one thing; 40 years late is on another scale altogether

As long as one is still on this Earthly Plain (i.e. not yet 6-foot under) it's *never* "too late!
