Get Ready Album

Hi,
I just recently found a Rare Earth Album, "Get Ready" in the shape of a Tombstone, rather than the typical square Album Cover.  Has anyone else seen or owned one of these?  The record is in great shape, as well as the cover.

That is the shape of the original album when it was first released.

I have one of those :)

If i can recall correctly, there were 5 different bands who each had an album with the same shaped cover.

That's right, Mike. All the original Rare Earth label LPs had that shape. Personally, I never cared for it and it didn't last long.

Query to Ralph Terrana:

Why *were* the 1st 5 Rare Earth LP's covers issued in that particular shape? Was it to kinda match the design/shape of the Rare Earth outer sleeve insignia?

It was a marketing thing that the label did at the time, most likely. The first 5 albums on the Rare Earth label had this design.

I didnt like that shape either, but the debut Rare Earth LP is so good.

The debut LP technically is Dreams Answrers. I like that album. Get Ready is good too.

Somebody gave me other day a DVD (DVDA..??) quadrophonic sound Get Raedy LP.

I can tell ,thats from LP, and sound is great and clean. You can choose between DTS and Dolby audio sound.

I found only this information about LP, released in Japan as quadro sound(?)

As an aside, a Japan-issued 45 single release of "Get Ready" showed up on...of all places...the PRODIGAL label! (May have been a re-issue, who knows?)

Wonder when *that* came out?? Obviously *well* after 1969..hmm
