I'm the producer of that particular song and I agree, Ray laid down a great solo. However, that didn't come off of a music score. That came straight from Ray's heart. You'll have to learn it the way we learned things off records. Note at a time. It's great practice.

Was that the guitar solo that Ray laid down in one take whilst you were suffering from a bad cold or flu? I just recall something from a thread on here not too long ago.

Yes, I was sick as a dog but wanted to finish this song. I needed the guitar solo to do that. We had Ray alone in the studio with the lights very low. Ray asked me through the cue system what I was looking for. I was so sick I couldn't bring myself to go out into the studio to work a solo out. I simply told Ray to play something sad.
One take and it was done. Ray nailed it just like that.

Jason,
Thanks for the compliment. Much appreciated.

Sounds like you have the reissue form the late 1970's. I dont like when albums are reissued/remixed/tinkered with. Chopping Ray's solo...sacrilege! A similar thing happened with Boz Scaggs' debut solo album from 1970. In 1977 after the success of Silk Degrees...his old label went back and remixed/reissued his first album. And the remix is not as good.

The only time that I feel a remix of an album better the sound was The Moody Blues' Days Of Future Passed. The original mix was in mono...a very murky mono. And the master mixdown tape was damaged. The 1978 remix was in stereo and sounds way better but there many differnces/elements not included in the mono.
