I'm not going to spoil it. Just click and listen to that first sound. If it brought back the memory that it did with me, it is sure to bring a smile to your face. Maybe even a bit of sadness.
The era when "on air talent" had TALENT! The days when the jockeys had the voice! And when they spun 45's, 33 1/3's, and reels. Nowadays it's all computers. I used to work in radio for a few years and I'm sure even then it paled to the glory days.
Man, if only I had been born 20 yrs earlier (1956)...I'd have had the opportunity to hear and see so many great musical acts in person & on the radio.
When I wandered upon this, and heard the very first sounds, I was taken back to my first memories of AM radio which I heard-- constantly-- in my eldest sister's bedroom, which was adjacent to my own. I pictured her aqua radio with the singular dial on it, and volume knob, always tuned to CKLW. That station played the greats, let me tell you. That was **the** station for this area. Detroit is only 3 hours from us, so we pulled it in crystal clear, until a certain time of the night, when they had to reduce the power, back in those days, and all you got from a certain time to a certain, nothing but static and noise. Ahhhh...those were the days.
You got me wonderng iof they've got any 70's British radio footage on there. I'll be back searching for Emperor Rosko etc once I'm done here.
Just wanted to say that your link inadvertently drew my attention to a Canadian band called Copperpenny. I never heard them before. Their hit (Sitting on a) Poor Man's Throne sounds very soulful and similar to the Stax hit Respect Yourself by the Staple Singers. Good lead singer too.

Ahh, Respect Yourself. The Staples did a great job on that. I'll try to forget Bruce Willis' cover of "Respect Yourself".
Mike I don't know how I came by it but I've got the Bruce Willis version in my singles collection. It's not as good as the Staples version, but I didn't think it was too bad for saying he's an actor i.e. he didn't quite manage to murder it!
Snow is falling again tonight here. We've not seen white stuff like this for 18 years. AL from Canada eat your heart out
