I don't know if Richard, John or any other UK fans caught it, but just after midnight on Christmas night I was ignoring a TV commercial break when suddenly I heard a few seconds of Rare Earth singing Hey Big Brother. It was a trailer for a forthcoming film release. Didn't catch the film title although I'm sure its already been mentioned on another thread.
Yes, that was it Mark. Role Model. Thanks for the info. It's really pleasing that Rare Earth music is turning up on film soundtracks. Whether or not it will help boost Universal's CDs remains to be seen. It's going to take an awful lot of sales to encourage Motown to dig into those unreleased songs in the vaults!!
WELL I WENT TO SEE THE MOVIE OUT OF CURIOUSITY...I WAS DISSAPPONTED WITH IT...IT WAS FUNNY IN SPOTS...BIG BROTHER WAS NOT IN THE MOVIE....MOSTLY THE SOUNDTRACK WAS KISS SONGS...MY ADVICE... SAVE YOUR MONEY UNLESS YOU ARE A KISS FAN
Thanks for the advice. How strange that Hey Big Brother isn't included in the movie soundtrack. That trailer is being played several times a day at the moment and alwys catches my ear.
I finally got the new Rare Earth album last week and I really like it. Ivan has made a massive impression in a very short time and I really like Mike Bruner's keyboards. Not forgetting Bird, Floyd and Gil of course. Papa would raise some attention if it was released as a single and I particularly like the title track!!
With all the Rare Earth related activities currently going on I hope Gil, Peter, Ray, Rod and Ralph have lots of success and provide plenty to talk about in 2009.
