Another of my all time music heroes, Stevie Wonder, is currently visiting our shores. I've been a massive fan since the mid - late 60s and was totally blown away when Superstition was released as a single. I recall having to walk home after spending my bus fare money on seeing the Talking Book album. No way was I prepared to wait and buy it next day.
One of my ambitions has always been to see Stevie in concert, so when the UK tour was announced I was on the phone for nearly an hour, as well as the internet, trying to get a ticket but to no avail. I was gutted when I started to see tickets appearing on eBay at several times the face value. I wouldn't give these people the satisfaction.
Stevie appeared on the Jonathan Ross chat show on Friday night and was his usual good humoured self. He went on to perform Superstition, I Was Made To Love Her and I Wish. I reckon he'd have played all night if he'd been allowed to. What a great guy and a great musician and what an incredible live band. I just hope I get a chance to see him one day. If it takes as long for his next tour I'll qualify for free travel LOL. Come to think of it, Stevie will too!!!
I seem to recall Rare Earth did some sessions with Stevie. If Ray and Peter have any comments on their experiences of working with him I think they might make intersting reading.
