the late Tommy Bolin...a link to Rare Earth via Reggie McBride

This week I pulled Tommy Bolin's album "Private Eyes" off of the shelf. For those of you who have heard this album, it's a great mix of rock, jazz, funk and latin. I was looking at the credits while listening to this underrated album. I completely forgot that Reggie McBride plays bass on this album. I really have to admire Reggie's work. Rock solid bass player and funky too. His work on the 2 RE albums he played on is also essential listening.

Rounding out the band on this album is: Mark Stein (of Vanilla Fudge) on keyboards, Bobbye Hall on percussion, and Norma Jean Bell (she worked with Frank Zappa) on sax Bobby Berge (who played with Bolin in Zephyr years previous). It's quite an impressive album for someone who was barely 25 at the time it was recorded.
